The primary objective is to transport goods, materials, or equipment safely, efficiently, and on schedule over local, regional, or long-distance routes. This role requires exceptional driving skills, a strong commitment to road safety, adherence to transport regulations, and basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle maintenance.

  • Operations & Driving

  • Safe Maneuvering: Operate heavy-duty vehicles under various weather, road, and traffic conditions while strictly adhering to speed limits and traffic laws.

  • Long-Haul Navigation: Plan routes efficiently using GPS and traffic updates to ensure timely deliveries while avoiding restricted routes or low-clearance bridges.

  • Vehicle Maintenance & Safety

  • Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct mandatory daily checks on critical components, including brakes, tires, lights, fluid levels, and steering mechanisms.

  • Preventative Care: Perform basic field maintenance (such as adding fluids, changing fuses, or tightening loose parts) and immediately report major mechanical issues to dispatch or the maintenance team.

  • Cargo Security: Verify that all cargo is loaded properly, balanced, and securely tied down or strapped to prevent shifting or damage during transit.

  • 3. Compliance & Documentation

  • Logbook Management: Maintain accurate electronic or paper logs of driving hours, rest periods, and mileage in compliance with transport authority regulations (such as HoS – Hours of Service rules).

  • Delivery Records: Secure necessary signatures on bills of lading, delivery receipts, and manifest documents, reporting any discrepancies or damaged cargo immediately.

  • Permit Adherence: Ensure the vehicle carries all required registration, insurance, and specialized trip permits (especially for oversized or hazardous loads).

  • 4. Communication & Professionalism

  • Dispatch Coordination: Maintain regular contact with the dispatch team to provide updates on transit progress, delays, or route changes.

  • Customer Service: Represent the company professionally during drop-offs and pickups at client sites, warehouses, or construction zones.
