Job Description
A Senior Planning Engineer is an experienced planning professional who leads and oversees all planning and scheduling activities on complex, large-scale projects, while mentoring junior planners and acting as a key interface between project management and execution teams.
Role and Responsibilities

1. Master Schedule Development

• Develop and maintain the fully integrated Master Project Schedule (MPS).

• Establish Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 schedules aligned with contract requirements.

• Define and control the project baseline schedule.
-
-
• Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis and float management.
-
-
2. Advanced Monitoring & Control
-
-
• Lead schedule performance reviews and variance analysis.
-
-
• Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) — SPI, CPI, TCPI metrics.
-
-
• Produce detailed S-curves, histograms, and progress dashboards.
-
-
• Conduct schedule health checks and integrity reviews.
-
-
3. Delay & Claims Analysis
-
-
• Perform Delay Analysis using methods like:
-
-
• Time Impact Analysis (TIA)
-
• Windows Analysis
-
• Collapsed As-Built (CAB)
-
-
• As-Planned vs As-Built
-
-
-
• Prepare Extension of Time (EOT) claims and supporting narratives.
-

• Support legal and contractual dispute resolution.
-
-
4. Risk & Recovery Planning
-

• Lead schedule risk assessments and Monte Carlo simulations.
-
-
• Develop recovery schedules and acceleration plans.
-
-
• Identify near-critical paths and risk mitigation strategies.
-
-
• Conduct "what-if" scenario planning.
-
-
5. Resource & Cost Integration
-
-
• Develop resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules.
-
-
• Prepare manpower histograms and resource leveling.
-
-
• Interface with cost control for integrated project controls.
-
-
• Support budget forecasting and cash flow analysis.
-
-
6. Leadership & Mentoring
-

• Lead and guide a team of planning engineers and planners.
-
-
• Review and approve schedules prepared by junior team members.
-
-
• Conduct planning workshops and training sessions.
-
-
• Establish planning procedures, templates, and standards.
-
-
7. Stakeholder Management
-
-
• Present schedule status to senior management and clients.
-
-
• Attend and chair planning and progress review meetings.
-
-
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams.
-
-
• Interface with subcontractors on schedule compliance.
