Job Description
The Rigger is responsible for safely rigging, lifting, and moving heavy equipment, machinery, and materials using cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices, following approved lift plans and safety procedures
Responsibilities

Select and attach appropriate rigging gear (slings, shackles, chain blocks, wire ropes, spreader bars) based on load weight and shape.

Inspect rigging equipment and lifting gear before each use; identify and report damaged or unsafe gear.

Calculate load weight, sling angles, and center of gravity to ensure safe and balanced lifts.

Signal/guide crane operators using standard hand signals or radio communication during lifting operations.

Attach and detach loads safely; secure loads during transport/movement.

Set up and dismantle rigging equipment for lifting operations.

Coordinate with crane operators, foremen, and other riggers during lift execution.

Maintain safe exclusion zones and ensure no personnel are under suspended loads.

Follow lift plans, permits (Permit to Work/Lift Permit), and job safety analysis (JSA).

Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings before lifting operations.

Report incidents, near-misses, or equipment issues immediately.

Maintain rigging gear storage and basic upkeep.
